Flexibility is our business
We are a specialist distributor of Endoscopic consumables and other related medical supplies. With over 30 years’ experience in the Endoscopic sector, we have sourced accessories from leading worldwide manufacturers.
In this changing environment, we provide a friendly, personal service to NHS trusts and the private sector, thanks to our wealth of experience. We offer flexibility and a rapid response to the needs of ever busy hospital departments, because we are privately owned.
Getinge today announces the acquisition of Pennamed, a UK-based distributor of endoscopic consumables serving National Health Service (NHS) and independent healthcare providers.
The acquisition strengthens Getinge’s offering to endoscopy units across the United Kingdom (UK) by combining Pennamed’s established consumables portfolio and strong customer relationships with Getinge’s expertise in endoscope reprocessing, infection control, and washer-disinfector technology.
Together, Getinge and Pennamed will support endoscopy teams across the UK Healthcare system with a broader and more integrated offering, helping to improve workflow efficiency, simplify procurement, and support compliance with infection control standards.
Endoscopy services in the UK continue to experience growing demand, driven by screening programmes and increasing procedure volumes. The combined portfolio of Getinge and Pennamed will enable healthcare providers to better manage these pressures while maintaining high standards of patient safety.
“We are delighted to welcome Pennamed to Getinge. This acquisition strengthens our ability to support UK endoscopy departments with a more complete and connected offering. By combining Pennamed’s consumables expertise with our reprocessing and infection control capabilities, we can deliver greater value to our customers and support the NHS in meeting increasing demand,” says Amy Rothwell, President UK & Ireland at Getinge.
“This deal provides a natural strategic home for the Pennamed business, bringing together Pennamed’s specialist endoscopic consumables portfolio with Getinge’s existing endoscopy footprint. This positions the company for continued growth and investment, while ensuring uninterrupted, high‑quality service for customers across the UK healthcare system” say shareholders of Pennamed, Ignatius and Kate Penna.
Getinge is strongly committed to the UK as both a key market and a strategic manufacturing base. With combined annual sales of approximately £130 million and close to 350 employees across Getinge and Pennamed, the UK represents an important part of Getinge’s global operations. The company’s site in Derby serves as a global centre of excellence for chemistry, supporting the continued development of infection control solutions worldwide.
